DUB CITY ROCKERS... JAMAICA CALLING... JAMAICA CALLING!
Jamaica Calling |
Unbelievably DUB CITY ROCKERS chief jester, producer and vocalist FRANTIC has returned to the UK in one peice from his recent trip to JA, and actually didn't cause any serious chaos in Jamaica! Although we are still waiting on written confirmation of this! However as Frantic stayed in Garvey Meade area of Portmore, it is rumoured Dedan's mother, the now almost legendary "Dub City Mama" kept an iron rule over the proceedings with her "big stick"! Frantic would like to pass on his respect and blessings to all the people who made him feel so welcome during his visit.

Frantic |
Frantic and the JA wing of the DCR, DEDAN and SHUW POW, when not on the beach! ...decamped to Dego Eccles (son of the legendary Reggae legend Clancy Eccles) Nuff-A-Dat studios to put the finishing touches to the DCR eagerly awaited album "Peace, Love, Faith, Co-exist" to be released on Moon Ska World in August 2007.

We'll get you Frantic! |
Although we did hear the following... as Frantic continued his "DIY vibe" of taking new photographs and video segments for several songs... he was chased across one beach by an over enthusiastic horse and owner offering him a ride...unfortuntely Frantic has an aversion to horses... and was heard mumbling to himself about "... horses not having steering wheels or brakes!!"
THE BIG

ED does his best Dubliners impression while the others look on |
We can confirm that THE BIG will be playing in the Croissant Neuf tent at the Glastonbury Festival...check the gig page for a new list of forthcoming gigs from the UK's top Underground Ska act. Watch out for a new feature on the wesite with THE BIG being interviewed by Ska man about town Toast.
RHODA... DO THE ROCK UNSTEADY!
RHODA DAKAR will also be playing the Glastonbury Festival on June 22nd appearing on the Leftfield stage.
Nick Welsh, frontman to SKAVILLE UK, that well known Ska face, Grammy winner, all round good bloke and guitarist and partner in crime on RHODA DAKAR'S new material informed us a month or so ago that it wouldn't be boring once RHODA joined the Moon Ska World mob.
Last week, Rhoda unfortunately fell off the stage at the New Cross Amersham Arms and almost knocked herself out!. "Short skirt, high stage, no other way off" the now okay RHODA informs us saying "Having looked down twice, I couldn't see the black beer crate on the black carpet and landed on top of it. It moved and I fell and smashed the back of my head on the edge of the stage". Although not unconcious she thought she better lay still at first, in case of neck injury. "First aider, you see!" she continues. Nick's wife, Stacey, came to her rescue, while Nick, and the rest of Skaville UK, bless them, were oblivious, as were the audience, thankfully!... until we decided to report it all here!
There followed the ride in an ambulance together with the now traditional Skaville UK mass visit to the local A & E. Ironically the next days performance an acoustic RHODA set was for a NHS benefit! But it meant RHODA was able to sit down while performing, even having cups of tea brought to her by fellow performers like BAY CITY ROLLERS Eric Faulkner... ahhh!
We can now report that Rhoda is fit and well and will be vocal coaching Mr Black from TWO TONECLUB in London this week before his group record their new album with AGGROLITES mainman Brian in the producers chair!

GIVE ME SOME "REGGAE REGGAE SAUCE"
Most people who watch the excellent BBC UK new entreprenuers reality show "Dragon's Den" will already be aware of legend that is LEVI ROOTS, who melted the normally stoney-faced judges as he serenaded them in almost CHRIS MURRAY style with an acoustic rendition of his song about his "Reggae Reggae Sauce" which he makes at home and up to know only sold to friends and at the Notting Hill Carnival.
Unlike some hopeful business types who have got the strop when the Dragon's Den panel of experts catch them out on their propsed future earnings, LEVI ROOTS showed the real meaning of "One Love" by smiling and being truly honest when he was asked some awkward business questions, resulting with 2 Dragon Den experts, Telecoms boss Peter Jones and Australian private investor Richard Farleigh agreeing to pay £25,000 each for a 20 per cent share of the business. They are helping Levi Roots draw up a business plan and help him seek industrial kitchens... both backing him obviously, not because of his somewhat wobbly-tilt projected sales figures but because they liked him and believed in him... and rightly so we say here at Moon Ska World. Good luck to you Levi!
Obviously Levi has received a lot of press and TV even appearing on BBC breakfast show's business spot and even poking fun of himself on the excellent Harry Hill "Burp TV" show. We can announce that Sainsbury's will now be stocking "Reggae Reggae Sauce" in over 600 of their stores from next week.
Check out this You Tube link for a small clip from the Dragon's Den TV show and here for LEVI ROOTS "Reggae Reggae sauce" website While you are there - why not order one of his albums?
LEVI ROOTS said: "I'm not in this to be the next Heinz ketchup. I just want to bring the sweet, sweet flavour of reggae music to the world." Future plans to pilot his own cook show which he has called the ‘Rasta-raunt’ Culinary Arts Performance where he plans to feature interviews with Reggae Artists... You better believe it!
